Working alongside generous individuals, businesses and organisations EofUs develops You Can opportunities for people to get involved in and act. Sometimes these are small acts for you and your family to enjoy, or bigger acts that contribute to the community.
Many of the people we have grown to know and love feature in ‘Voices of the City’, a film commissioned by Hull City Council. The film created to support the development of the cities new cultural strategy asked – What is culture? Of course HU3 folks had lots of good stuff to say on the subject inviting us all to think on what we do, get involved in and enjoy. You Can watch the film HERE
You Can’s often focus on being well and thinking beyond the symptons we are prescribed against. The de-stress Aricular Acupuncture and Meditation session led by Mel at eMBe is just one example of support we’ve offered. HU3 has many complimentary therapists and we support access to them for residents who may find it hard to put themselves first because of confidence issues, kids, work and busy lives.
EofUs surfaces and celebrates important overlooked stories and lives. HU3 people are tired of being marginalised and sidelined, particularly as the area has so much to teach us about acceptance, tolerance and coping. A project to record, showcase and archive the invisible and invisibled LGBTQ+ commmunites history of HU3 is just beginning. We would be keen to hear from you if you are interested to get involved or find out more.
George Norris is HU3 born and bred. He’s a self taught photographer and his work celebrates the community. EofUS works alongside him to showcase his photographs and bring larger audience to his work. George, EofUs and local businesses selected a series of images for a street level exhibition on their windows and walls. You can find them at:
The Ryder Social Club, Wellstead Street, Hull Fishing Heritage Centre. Choppers Cafe, Rayners Club, Halfway Hotel and Dairycoates Inn.
EofUs supports residents and groups such as Chiltern Primary parents and Boulevard Academy students to take part in Artwalks where we meet artists and explore the city’s art spaces. We’ve seen exhibitions of contemporary work at Humber Street and 87 Gallery, discussed the historic artworks at The Ferens and thought about what we might make to sell in FORM.
Cook and Share in HU3 recipe book has been created by the brilliant people who Cook and Share at Chiltern Primary School in Hull. Cook and Share is simple. Everyone prepares, bakes, cooks, roasts, fry’s their favourite dish and then we enjoy it all over a shared lunch.
“I feel very full and happy and that’s what food should do”

The Aimless Archive has led two HU3 walking tours, where participants are invited to explore, take photos, take notes, take in the view and take time to share their thoughts. The first tour explored Stories of Storage on Hessle Road and the second You And Me In HU3 the exhibition by George Norris and Russel Boyce, at Humber Street Gallery. You can download the prompt cards HERE.
You Can go and see the portraits Kate Genever and photographer Tony Ward from Top Color, Hessle Road, have been making with HU3 folks at Rayners pub, Ryders Club and Top Color. We Believe in love not luck is a collaboration that has produced a collection of portraits, life stories and ceramics. Everyone included is deeply connected to the area, their lives are shaped by being there and the work shares their histories.
EofUs commissions HU3 artists to lead You Cans. These small opportunies support artist to make new participatory or collaborative work for audiences. Joy Rummage led by Liz Dorton is one example. Liz and her Murmurations crew invited people to join in with their gang of puppets and musicians to play and imagine. All across West Park strange creatures to magical sounds mooched, roamed and lept, creating a fantastical spectical.
HU3 is full of important historical and contemporary architecture. In partnership with housing charity Giroscope and their architect Caroline we explored it all. Including the Sturgeon laden fountain at its centre, Georgian town houses once owned by rich merchants, the 512 Planes and 130 Limes planted to create grand Boulevards and Giroscopes beautiful new houses built for locals with sustainable materials and ecco credentials.
EofUs continues to work in collaboration with Orts and YFC, a womens group who put creativity and being well first. Currenly EofUs is supporting a long term project Swimming Upstream, which is empowering women to reconsider their health, thinking on how the group can support them to take control of their lives and acknowledge the skills, experience and knowledge they all hold.
